Remember how we like parties? Well so do director Saam Farahmand and Partizan Films who are uniting to bring you the sweet New Rave documentary, Part of the Weekend Never Dies. Farahmand followed legendary electronic DJs and Belgium brothers, Soulwax for 120 shows in the UK, the US, Australia, Japan and other places where kids gather under strobe lights for communal mind-melting. He also interviewed some of Soulwax’s buddies like Justice, Klaxons and Tiga along the way. I read once that “New Rave” as a genre doesn’t really exist outside of the minds of a few die-hard Klaxons fans in Leeds basements. These days, with the exploding house/electronic scene and a national synth surge and, now, a bonafide cult documentary, are we in the midst of a rave revival?
